Ahead of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the deep strategic partnership signed between Morocco and Russia in Moscow in 2016, Foreign Affairs Minister and African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Affairs Minister, Nasser Bourita, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrouchev, chaired the 8th session of the Morocco-Russia Joint Governmental Committee.
This session marked an important stage in strengthening bilateral cooperation, with the committee, attended by a high-level Moroccan ministerial delegation representing priority sectors, reviewing the achievements of cooperation and identifying ways to further enhance it.
Special attention was given to key sectors including agriculture, energy, industry, transport, customs cooperation, education, and culture. Three legal mechanisms were signed to reinforce cooperation: an agreement on fisheries cooperation, a protocol on the exchange of documents and data regarding the customs value of goods, and a protocol on cooperation, information exchange, and mutual assistance under the unified system of preferences of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their shared desire to elevate relations to a more ambitious level by diversifying economic and trade exchanges, supporting mutual investments, and developing new forms of sectoral cooperation, while maintaining regular political consultations and ensuring effective monitoring of agreements to give full scope to the Morocco-Russia strategic partnership.
