Olivier Andries, CEO and Board Member of Safran Group, confirmed on Thursday that Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is a clear choice for investment in the aviation sector, thanks to its highly skilled workforce, dynamic industrial base, and advanced infrastructure.
Speaking on the French channel BFM Business program “Good Morning Business”, Andries explained that the decision to invest in the aircraft engine industrial complex in Nouaceur was based on the available reception conditions, workforce skills, and infrastructure, describing it as a comprehensive and objective choice.
He highlighted that Morocco has excellent engineering schools and a stable macroeconomic environment, adding that the country is strategically important for Safran, where the group has gradually developed its activities over the past 25 years. Today, the group employs 5,000 Moroccan staff with exceptional skills, strong commitment, enthusiasm, and the highest operational performance levels.
Andries also confirmed that Safran is expanding its aircraft engine assembly capacity, in line with the increased production rates of aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing, noting that the investment in new capacities is part of a strategy to strengthen resilience and ensure at least two sources for all operations.
He explained that the group has also invested in aircraft engine structure manufacturing, with two production sites for Airbus A320 airframes in France and Casablanca, highlighting the exceptional performance of the Moroccan site, and applied the same approach to engine assembly by establishing the new factory in Nouaceur.
Furthermore, Andries noted that Safran developed the first certified electric engine in the aviation sector, with many startups relying on the group to equip their projects with this type of engine.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI inaugurated the aircraft engine industrial complex in Nouaceur on Monday, which includes a factory for engine assembly and testing, and another for maintenance and repair of the new-generation LEAP engines, creating numerous job opportunities for Moroccan youth according to their training and qualifications.
As a global leader in short- and medium-haul aircraft engines and the third-largest aviation player outside aircraft manufacturers, Safran has strengthened its presence in Morocco for 25 years, reflecting the significant progress of Morocco’s aerospace industry under the strategic vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
