On Wednesday in Washington, Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States, Youssef El Omrani, reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to making digital transformation a key driver of socio-economic development and youth inclusion, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
During a high-level meeting organized by the Cyber Diplomacy and Innovation Center at George Washington University, under the theme “Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Government: Morocco’s Vision for Youth and the Future”, the ambassador emphasized that digital transformation in Morocco is not merely a slogan but a sovereign, structured choice serving the citizen.
El Omrani highlighted the “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, which aims to modernize the national economy, enhance public service efficiency, and create new opportunities for youth and women. He explained that the strategy seeks to contribute 6% of GDP through the digital sector and generate 240,000 qualified jobs by 2030.
The ambassador also stressed the importance of human capital in this transformation, noting plans to train 100,000 young people annually in digital professions, including those in rural areas, with over 30,000 students expected to benefit by 2026, as part of promoting equal opportunities and social cohesion.
Regarding bilateral relations, El Omrani described Morocco-U.S. cooperation in the digital field as a partnership built on trust, shared values, and stability, highlighting the growing interest of U.S. agencies in investing in cloud computing and data centers in Morocco.
The meeting was attended by researchers, senior U.S. officials, members of Congress, and experts in advanced technologies, reflecting the increasing global interest in Morocco’s digital transformation and its leadership in this vital sector.
