Several graduates of the Mohammed VI Football Academy have stood out with remarkable performances during the participation of Morocco’s U-20 national team in the ongoing World Cup in Chile, following the team’s appearance in the final of the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. This achievement once again highlights the crucial role the academy plays in developing Moroccan football and nurturing future stars.
Among the players called up by national coach Mohamed Wahbi for the global tournament, four young talents trained at the academy distinguished themselves with their technical skills and tactical understanding, contributing significantly to the exceptional journey of the “Atlas Lions.” Fouad Zahwani, Houssam Al-Sadiq, Yassir Zubiri, and Yassine Khalifi stand as living examples of the high-quality training and mentorship offered by the academy, which has become a benchmark at both the African and international levels.
The success of these players reflects the effectiveness of the Moroccan sports project, as the intensive training provided by the academy equipped them with the technical, physical, and mental foundations necessary to compete against top-tier teams such as Spain and Brazil, as well as emerging teams like South Korea and the United States. Their impressive performance has helped Morocco reach the semifinals, equaling the historic achievement of the 2005 World Cup in the Netherlands.
Among the standout stars, striker Yassir Zubiri shone brightly by scoring three goals and consistently threatening opposing defenses, making him one of the tournament’s key players. The Moroccan team now prepares to face France on Wednesday in the semifinal, offering another opportunity to showcase the talent and skills of these emerging stars.
It is worth noting that the Mohammed VI Football Academy, founded in 2009 under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aims to discover and refine young Moroccan talents, helping them reach the highest levels through a combination of academic education, rigorous sports training, and educational supervision.
With its modern infrastructure, qualified technical staff, and football philosophy centered on discipline and tactical intelligence, the academy has become a leading center for player development, consistently supplying national teams with talents ready for continental and international competition.
The academy’s contribution extends beyond technical training, encompassing a comprehensive philosophy for developing Moroccan football by preparing young players to become not only professional athletes but also ambassadors of Moroccan football worldwide.
The outstanding performances of Zahwani, Al-Sadiq, Zubiri, and Khalifi at the Chilean World Cup provide clear evidence of the academy’s success in shaping a well-rounded generation, enhancing its reputation, and confirming its pivotal role in securing a promising future for Morocco’s national teams.
